‘Pulse’ is a new watercolour style for Leicestershire artist Lois Pedley. She has taken dynamic and sweeping motions, this time with pastel shades to form a modern take on landscape painting. A beautiful contrast between detail and minimal, Lois has a new way of working with watercolour and pen, creating an abstract approach to both landscapes and waterscapes.
A note from the Artist about this piece:
The organic nature of allowing the paintbrush to glide across the paper in soft flowing lines seemed appropriate for land and sky. Having already experimented with this style for waterscapes I wanted to bring the technique to the land. The living organisms and biological factors that surround us is something of an enigma to me. How they grow, develop, evolve and breathe all around us, its somewhat hypnotic. I thought of air and oxygen and how we breathe it all in to survive and thrive. I thought of the word ‘living’ and what that means to me and how these organic elements around us are also living. I thought of vibrations from the earth and how they travel and beat through the landscape. The title ‘Pulse’ seemed appropriate.
