‘Intrinsic’ is a new watercolour style for Leicestershire artist Lois Pedley. She has taken dynamic and sweeping motions with shades of blue to form a modern take on painting a sky and teamed it with finely drawn waves in pen. A stark contrast between detail and minimal, Lois has a new way of working with watercolour and pen, creating an abstract approach to waterscapes.
A note from the Artist about this piece:
My love for water is clearly evident in my works focussed on the sea. But water itself is a great calming influence to me, the sounds and rhythmic flow are hypnotic and I cant resist them. Studies like this are important, they remind me of just how grateful I am for nature and all it can do for us. It provides mental clarity, nurtures us, educates us and invites us to embrace it’s ever evolving stages of change. This also applies to my approach of practicing art, it is ever changing. I love watercolour and pen combined and I wanted to create something abstract and dynamic. Something intrinsic that can capture the soothing ebb and flow of both sky and water along with the intensity it can hold over you.
