This peaceful beach scene by Leicestershire artist Lois Pedley, is reminiscent of one of her visits to Pembrey, Wales. She has captured the fine grass of the sand dunes, contrasting against the soft ripples of the waves to bring a piece of the Welsh coast to you.
A note from the Artist about this piece:
On my coastal trip around south Wales at the beginning of the year I revisited Pembrey. I've never found anywhere quite like it. The labyrinth of the dunes is breathtaking, leading onto the huge expanse of golden sand, you can walk for miles finding shipwrecks and breathing in all the goodness of the sea.
What captured me most on this visit was the quiet of the dunes. I sat and watched the long grasses sway in the January breeze, dancing to the rhythm of the tide. I like the quiet. This is no secret.
Nestled in the dunes, hidden in the grasses I watched the world go by, the light change as the sun came up and the tide roll in across the sand. It's beautiful that even at 6am on a cold January morning, the world still appreciates the call of the sea. People walked and dogs ran for their sticks and balls, kites flew and coffees were in hand. But in the dunes, I could watch it all, appreciate it all. The quiet allows you to do that. It's so important. Thank you Pembrey for those moments.
