This stunning watercolour painting by Leicestershire Artist Lois Pedley is an exquisite example of Lois’ ability to capture the delicate and beautiful shapes of roses. The use of a limited palette here is enhanced by her use of all metallic watercolour paint, allowing the rose to come alive with varying shades of colour and light. .

A note from the Artist about this piece:

I feel that roses are the one flower I will always be drawn to, be in awe of and constantly fascinated by the way they bloom so majestically. Not many appreciate just how much depth and physical grace there is within each petal of these complex miracles. Roses shine bright to me in any garden. They are the first flower I am guided to by my eagle eyes, seeking out their beauty and changing shapes, I am always fascinated. I wanted to show how much roses mean to me, how much they make my world brighter. I started using metallic watercolours because they allow me to invite you in from all angles, seek out what else is hidden within them and also allow me the chance to adorn these flowers, showing my appreciation for what they bring to my life.

‘Shine Bright’ is part of an ongoing collection of drawings and paintings Lois uses to celebrate the fleeting moments of roses in bloom and immortalise them as an Art form.
